A Des Moines man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly assaulted a retail-store security guard in the course of stealing about $400 worth of merchandise from the Von Maur store at the Jordan Creek Town Center.

The incident began about 3:45 p.m. Saturday at a retail store in the 100 block of S. Jordan Creek Parkway, where Fuller allegedly “pushed” the store’s security guard “against the door and fled the store” with $387 worth of stolen merchandise, according to court records.

Officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded and soon located Fuller, who then “fled on foot” from law enforcement after they “announced, ‘Police. Stop,'” according to court records.

Fuller was convicted of fifth-degree theft in 2023 Polk County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in 2024 in Polk County District Court.
