A Des Moines man was arrested in West Des Moines early Sunday after he was found armed and allegedly drunk.

Fox Cooper Corcoran, 22, of Des Moines was charged with possession or carrying of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated and public intoxication.

The incident began about 12:15 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of S.E. Bishop Drive and 98th Street, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a fight in a residence.

Corcoran fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement but was found near
the intersection of 98th Street and Bishop Drive, according to court records.

Corcoran presented with “unsteady balance, slurred speech with a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath, bloodshot/watery eyes,” and he “was repetitive in his statements and questions,” according to court records.

A preliminary breath test returned a blood alcohol content reading of .223%.

A search of Corcoran disclosed a Ruger LCP 9 millimeter handgun “in a satchel affixed to his person,” according to court records.

Corcoran was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,300 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
