The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) annual meeting on the Ledges State Park will be held Thursday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Boone City Hall auditorium, 923 Eighth St. in Boone.

The meeting will review 2017 activities and provide up-to-date details on the park’s ongoing projects, including a major campground renovation, Canyon Drive repair and boat ramp projects.

The Ledges State Park campground is currently closed and will remain closed all year. Canyon Drive is currently closed to vehicle traffic due to a roadway failure, making vehicle passage unsafe.

Visitors may still hike into the canyon. Parking for hikers is located both at the top (east) of Canyon Drive and the bottom (west) of Canyon Drive, and foot access is available from either direction.

All other roads, parking lots, picnic areas, trails and both open shelters remain open and accessible by vehicle. For detailed information on the Canyon Drive repair project, included expected timelines, please contact the park office at 515-432-1852 or the DNR website.
