A Norwalk man, arrested Friday night for drunk driving and possessing a pistol while drunk, allegedly “lost control of his emotions multiple times” and threatened to kill law enforcement officers.

Timothy James Moon, 27, of Norwalk was charged with possession or carrying of dangerous weapons while under the influence, first-offense OWI, assault on persons in certain occupations-bodily injury, first-degree harassment, third-degree criminal mischief, interference with official acts and first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and issued citations for open container, no seatbelt and no insurance.

The incident began about 7 p.m. Friday in De Soto, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff observed a 2004 Chevy Suburban “lurching both left and right” on the roadway and “accelerating aggressively” on U.S. Highway 169.

The deputy also observed the driver, Moon, was not wearing a seatbelt. A traffic stop was initiated.

Moon was “unsteady on his feet,” according to court records, and he presented with “bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the thick odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage on his breath.”

Sobriety testing “indicated significant impairment.”

A Glock 22 handgun “with an extended magazine and one round in the chamber” was found “on the dash in front of the driver’s seat,” according to court records.

A probable-cause search of the vehicle disclosed a “THC vape pen” and two open containers, according to court records.

Moon was placed under arrest, after which he allegedly “threatened to kill officers by slitting their throats in their homes,” according to court records. He “resisted handcuffing and bit” a deputy sheriff, and he did an estimated $1,000 damage to the back seat of a Dallas County squad car.

Moon was held in the Dallas County jail prior to his release on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 5 in Dallas County District Court.

Moon was convicted of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana in 2016 in Warren County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense possession of a controlled substance-marijuana in 2017 in Polk County District Court.
