An intoxicated Waukee man was arrested for assault early Sunday after a fight with his wife during which he allegedly ripped the shirt from her body.
Edgar Israel Garcia Garcia, 46, of 320 N.W. First St., Waukee, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 1:45 a.m. Sunday, when officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of N.W. First Street in Waukee.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the female victim, who “was crying hysterically” and had “pants and a bra on but did not have a shirt,” according to court records.
The victim told police that a verbal argument began in the garage of the residence and continued upstairs, turning physical when Garcia Garcia allegedly “shoved” the victim “and
then grabbed her hair and yanked it.”
The victim said Garcia Garcia allegedly “ripped the shirt off” her body.
Two minor children “had not seen the physical altercation occur but had heard the altercation from the basement,” according to court records.
Garcia Garcia was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
