WOODWARD — Visiting Earlham seized control of Friday’s WCC boys contest with Woodward-Granger and never relented in posting a 78-32 victory.
The Cardinals (15-3, 13-3) had defeated the Hawks (2-16, 2-14) by a 75-46 margin in their Jan. 5 meeting and wasted little time in asserting their dominance in the second meeting between the two foes.
Earlham rushed to an 18-6 lead after one frame en route to a 40-17 halftime lead. An 18-8 edge in the third quarter widened the gap to 58-25, leaving only the final statistics in question.
Bodie Harrison led W-G with eight points, with Brady Aunspach scoring seven points and Marcus McConahay six. Five points from Nick Squires and two apiece from Derick Morgan, Brody Easter and Brendan Bird closed the Hawk scoring.
J.P. Nixon had six rebounds and Squires five, with Morgan blocking three shots.
W-G will visit Guthrie Center Tuesday before hosting CMB for a boys-only JV/varsity set Thursday. A boys/girls tilt with visiting Panorama — rescheduled from Feb. 2 — will be played Friday.
