An Earlham man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting an Earlham woman in the home.

Russell Duane Grantham, 82, of 35290 L Lane, Earlham, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 35200 block of M Lane in Earlham, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

An investigation led the deputies to conclude that Grantham allegedly “hit the victim with a towel in the face,” according to court records.

The deputies observed on the victim “a bruised left cheek,” according to court records, and Grantham allegedly “admitted to hitting the victim in the face with a towel.”

Grantham was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 5 in Dallas County District Court.
