EARLHAM — Friday’s West Central Conference boys game between Earlham and visiting Woodward-Granger was decided early, as the host Cardinals seized control midway through the second quarter en route to a 66-49 victory. Earlham had posted a 68-55 win over W-G in their Jan. 3 meeting.

The Cardinals (14-5, 13-4) held a 13-7 lead after one period but outscored the Hawks (8-11, 6-11) 26-14 in the second quarter to enter the intermission with a 39-21 edge. By the end of the third frame the lead stood at 56-32, with W-G simply too far behind to back a serious run.

Spencer Hanson and Reese Jamison had 12 points apiece for W-G, with Bryce Achenbach tallying 10. J.P. Nixon scored five points and Matt Buch four, with three points from Bodie Harrison, two from Cameron Hoyt and one from Marcus McConahay capping the Hawk scoring.

Trent Williamson poured in 29 points for Earlham on 10-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-4 on 3-point shots. Joey Harkins had 10 points, Mason Madren nine and Drew Williamson seven. Ben Clement’s six points, Lazerick Matchem’s three points and Jason Hopp’s two completed the Cardinal scoring tab.

W-G hosts AC/GC Tuesday for a WCC co-ed set, with the Hawk boys completing their regular season Thursday with a trip to CMB.
