Elizabeth Anne Chayet, 80, of Perry passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, at the EveryStep Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Violet Hill Cemetery at 1700 Park St. in Perry, Iowa.

Elizabeth was born on Oct. 30, 1944, in Fort Benning, Georgia, to Richard E. and Leonora (Naberhaus) Rothmeyer.

She was raised in Roselle, Iowa, and attended Holy Angels School in Roselle, Kuemper High School in Carroll and later St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry.

On Jan. 31, 1966, she was united in marriage to Norton Barry Chayet in New York City.

Elizabeth was a devoted member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Throughout her career, she worked for Western Union in New York, N.Y., AMREP in Rio Rancho, N.M., and Principal Financial Group in Des Moines.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, David (Kim) Chayet of Shorewood, Minnesota, Jeffrey Chayet of Urbandale and Barry Chayet of Perry; stepdaughter, Randi Peskin of Parkland, Florida; grandchildren, Tiffany, Christopher, Benjamin, Lauren, Zachary and Kenadi; step-grandchildren, Alex, Melissa and Noah; brothers, John (Paula) Rothmeyer, Ronald (Sheila) Rothmeyer, Vincent (Debbie) Rothmeyer and Gerald (Kayla) Rothmeyer; sisters, Barbara (Joe) Butler, Marilyn (Allen) Long and Donna Clausen; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; extended family; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Leonora Rothmeyer; her husband, Norton Chayet; her brother, Richard Rothmeyer; and sisters, Rose Bingaman, Margaret Ure and Ruth VonGuerard.
