Young people with a flair for interior design are invited to participate in the Dallas County 4-H Plan-a-Room Design Contest scheduled for the spring.
The countywide competition will give young people a chance to try their hands at arranging a dining room, living room, kitchen, bedroom, man cave or rec room.
The contest rules are simple: 4-H members and their friends will form design teams of two to three. Contestants may by any age combination — between fourth and 12th grade — as long as at least one team member is enrolled in 4-H.
Each team will be furnished with a diorama box, furnishing pieces to scale and supplies to complete on site. Judges will evaluate each team based upon a number of criteria, and awards will be presented to first-, second- and third-place teams.
The Plan-a-Room Design Contest will be held Saturday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. The event is free and open to the public.
