Evelyn McCaulley, 95, of Oskaloosa passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2025, at the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Evelyn E. McCaulley was born in Oskaloosa on July 3, 1930, to Ralph and Lois Lola (Littler) Jones.

She was raised on an acreage one mile east of Hamilton, Iowa, where she attended elementary school through the eighth grade. She attended ninth grade in Lovilia and then transferred to Albia High School, where she graduated in 1948. She furthered her education at Central College in Pella for one year after transferring and attending Kletzing College, later Vennard College, in University Park, Iowa, for a year and a half.

Evelyn married Robert M. McCaulley on Aug. 10, 1950, a young man she met while attending Kletzing College. They lived in Lynnville and University Park before moving to Oskaloosa in 1965.

She was a junior high school secretary with the Oskaloosa Community School District for 17 years until retirement in 1991.

Robert passed away on Oct. 23, 1998.

Evelyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa, where she served as a deacon, played in the chime choir and baked the communion bread for many years.

She was also a member of the University Park Women’s Club and the Edmundson Ladies Golf Club.

Evelyn enjoyed walking, golfing, doing counted cross stitch projects and being with family and friends.

On May 5, 2005, she married Dr. C. B. Dunshee. They enjoyed golfing, dancing and traveling together for almost eight years of their marriage until C. B. passed away Jan. 8, 2013.

Her family includes three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Randy and Marsha McCaulley of Perry, Gregory and Molly McCaulley of Oskaloosa and Douglas McCaulley and Molly Cummins of Laguna Beach, California; six grandchildren, Katie (Jesus) Villalobos, Tony (Christa), Shane (Alli), Amanda (Sam) Croswell, Jonathan and Ryan McCaulley; and three step-grandchildren, James, Micaela and Annie Daley; five great-grandsons, Isaiah, Armand and Lael Tinker, Alonzo Villalobos and Milo McCaulley; two step-great-granddaughters, Kim and Elizabeth Villalobos; two great-granddaughters, Eliana Villalobos and Millie McCaulley; a great-great-granddaughter, Jayda Amerison-Smith; three step-sons, Robert (Linda) Dunshee of Plano, Texas, Jeff (Cindy Shull) Dunshee of Springfield, Missouri, and Chris Dunshee of Phoenix; one step-daughter, Patricia Van Weelden of Springfield, Missouri; nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands; and one brother, Elvin Jones.

Funeral Services for Evelyn were held Friday, Aug. 15 at the Langkamp Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with Rev. Hans Cornelder officiating. Burial was in University Park Cemetery in University Park, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Mahaska Health Foundation for the Hospice Serenity House.
