Cloudy skies, light winds and temperatures in the mid 30s greeted bicyclists in downtown Perry Saturday morning at the start of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce’s 47th annual Bike Ride to Rippey, better known as the BRR Ride.

Riders observed a moment of silence prior to the start of the ride, giving honor to the victims of the Jan. 4 shooting at Perry High School.

Breakfast was served by the Hotel Pattee, and the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus held their annual raffle of a new bicycle, which was won this year by the Rev. Litto Thomas.

Numerous stops are available in Perry, Rippey and along the route in order to fortify riders.  The 24-mile round-trip ride, which started in 1978, is the largest annual fundraising event for the Perry Chamber of Commerce.
