Fire in old Redfield palette factory feeds on huge debris pile

The fire at 307 Bridge St. in Redfield, fed by an enormous amount of fuel, was quickly controlled, but firefighters on scene said it would likely smolder for several days.

The Redfield Volunteer Fire Department responded about 1:15 a.m. Sunday when a large fire was reported at Sheeder Construction Group LLC at 307 Bridge St. on Redfield’s west side.

A large pile of wooden debris at the site of the former palette factory was burning out of control when firefighters arrived about 1:30 a.m., accessing the site through a gate in the 13700 block of 310th Street.

The fire, fed by an enormous amount of fuel, was quickly controlled, but firefighters on scene said it would likely smolder for several days.

The cause of the blaze is unknown at this hour. There were no injuries reported.

The Adel Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office and Redfield EMS also responded.
