The First Interstate Bank in Perry presented a donation of $2,000 to the Perry Food Pantry at Tuesday night’s meeting of the pantry board of directors.
Tim Farmer of Perry, president of the Perry Food Pantry Board of Directors, accepted the donation from Sarah Cerwinske of the First Interstate Bank. Cerwinske also happens to sit on the pantry board.
The donation comes on the heels of last week’s $2,500 grant to the food pantry from the Bock Family Foundation. The generosity is well timed, according to Pantry Site Director Lou Hoger, because recent months have seen a sharp rise in the price of food the pantry buys from the Food Bank of Iowa.
Sharing in the celebration Tuesday were Hoger, Volunteer Coordinator Lois Hoger and board members Norm Adamson, Jeffry Fuentes, Brenda Golay, Steve Golay, Rosa Gonzalez, Margaret Hardem, Gus Henrici and Pat McPherson.
The nonprofit Perry Emergency Food Council, which operates the food pantry, was founded in 1981.
