The National Weather Service offices in Johnston has issued a flood watch for the Perry area in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday as a consequence of Tuesday’s storms.

Excessive runoff might result in the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in areas of poor drainage and urban areas.

Additional thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall will continue to develop through Tuesday evening and overnight in areas that have already experienced multiple
rounds of rainfall through previous days and might be primed for flash flooding.

The flood watch is in effect in Boone, Dallas, Davis, Calhoun, Carroll, Greene and Guthrie, Hamilton, Jasper, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Polk, Poweshiek, Story, Wapello, Warren and Webster counties.
