
Four people died Wednesday night and one was injured when a car and a passenger van collided head on in rural Clinton County.
The incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the 4100 block of Iowa Highway 136, about halfway between Goose Lake and Clinton, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
According to the report, a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound and a 2014 Honda Odyssey was traveling eastbound when they collided head on.
The driver of the Cruze was killed in the crash, and the driver of the Odyssey and two passengers were also killed. One passenger in the van sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy One Clinton Medical Center by the Clinton County EMS, the ISP report said.
The identities of the victims are withheld pending notification. Investigators concluded that three of the four fatality victims were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s office, Clinton County Medical Examiner, Andover Volunteer Fire Department, Andover Ambulance, Goose Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
