The National Weather Service office in Johnston has again issued a freeze warning for the Perry area — this time from midnight until 9 a.m. Monday, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 degrees expected overnight.

The area of the freeze warning is mainly along and south of U.S. Highway 30.

The frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and could possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. People with in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

ThePerryNews.com will update this weather story as forecasts evolve.
