GILBERT — Perry prevailed last Friday in a back-and-forth varsity thriller at Gilbert. The first game of the evening offered no such suspense, as the Tigers demolished the visiting Bluejays, 48-8, in the frosh/soph game.
Perry coach Shannon Cline was quick to the point.
“We do not tackle well and continue to focus a majority of our practice time to tackling,” Cline said.
Spending valuable time on fundamentals two months after the start of official practices prevents work on details, and has put the team behind most competition.
Ben Ramirez ran four times for 47 yards, scoring a touchdown and adding a two-point conversion run. Jeb Stewart added 50 yards on 14 carries, with Abner Rivera (2-4) and Keghan West (2-2) also gaining yards.
West was 0-for-3 and Jordan Ochoa 0-for-2 passing for Perry.
Perry will host Webster City at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
