Perry was eliminated by Grinnell in postseason play Friday, ending a winless season, but head coach Michael Craig found reasons to believe in a brighter future.

GILBERT — Four runs from the hosts in the bottom of the fifth inning offset three from the guests in the top of the frame and allowed Gilbert to claim a shortened win of 13-3 over Perry Monday.

Juan Hernandez, Kaelen Davis, Kane Killmer and Holden Smith had base hits for the Bluejays, with Carter Iben, Drave Levan and Geren Kenney each scoring once.

Smith and Killmer drove in a run apiece, with Levan drawing a walk and Kenney stealing a base.

Gavin Hegstrom started but lasted only one-third of an inning, leaving after being assessed five runs on one hit, four walks and one hit batsman.

Kaleb Lyddon threw four frames of relief, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks. He hit one batter and struck out one.

Dalton Scott yielded two runs (one earned) on on hit while walking two and plunking one with a pitch while Caden Steva faced one batter.
