Stephanie Barnard of Minburn has founded a GoFundMe campaign for Rhonda Zimmerman, who was badly injured Nov. 29 when her vehicle was rear ended on U.S. Highway 169. Rhonda has worked at Veterinary Medical Associates in Perry since 2023.

“She sustained multiple breaks to her neck, and a broken vertebrae that leaves her spinal cord at risk,” according to Bernard’s GoFundMe page. “She has many months of surgeries and recovery ahead of her. Hoping to help cover costs so she can focus on healing.”

Her surgery on Dec. 2 was successful, Barnard said. This was followed by an update Dec. 6:

Well, the best laid plans often go astray, and so it is with Rhonda. They came in today and did a CT scan and decided that surgery on her neck would be the best plan. So tomorrow she will have surgery to fuse C1 and C2 onto C3. So she is still in CCU for a few more days. Although there are risks involved in any surgery, they think this should go smoothly and be a shorter surgery than the first one. I sure hope so since her face was so swollen before that she couldn’t see. Laying face downward for several hours tends to do that. So once again keep her in your prayers for another surgery.

On Dec. 11 the update said the “final surgery went well! Lots of therapy going on now!”
