A Granger woman allegedly assaulted her neighbor in the middle of the street Saturday night in the course of a verbal dispute.
Hollie Kaye James, 48, of 2423 Birch St., Granger, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, disorderly conduct and first-offense public intoxication.
The incident began about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 2400 block of Birch Avenue, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of assault.
The deputies made contact with the victim, who told the deputies that James allegedly “charged at her and struck her in the face multiple times” after the victim called James a derogatory name, according to court records.
The deputies observed on the victim “swelling and bruising underneath and around the victim’s right eye, consistent with being struck in the face,” according to court records.
The deputies made contact with James and detected the “odor of consumed alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath,” according to court records.
A video recording made by a witness to the affray allegedly showed James “charging at the victim and then striking her in the head area with a closed fist multiple times,” according to court records.
James was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 4 in Dallas County District Court.
