Greene County's wrestling program remains on hiatus as several members of the team battle skin disease.

JEFFERSON — Skin infections forced Greene County school officials to suspend all school wrestling activities after practice Jan. 3, and now it appears the Rams will not return to practice until Monday at the earliest.

The outbreak has caused Greene County to cancel a home triangular Jan. 11 against PCM and South Hamilton, and Ram varsity grapplers will not compete Saturday at the South Hardin Tourney in Eldora. Also cancelled was Saturday’s Ram Junior Varsity Tourney.

The Greene County Athletic Department said they had consulted with medical professionals concerning the infections and that all concerned are following the proper protocols. The school apologized for any inconvenience caused by what is called, in the parlance of the sport “closing the (wrestling) room.”

If practices resume Monday, the Rams are expected to travel Tuesday to AC/GC, where they will join South Central Calhoun for a triangular.
