A Grimes man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting and harassing a Grimes woman in the home.
Jeffrey Lee Roorda, 64, of 3205 W. First St., Grimes, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness and first-degree harassment.
The victim told Polk County Deputy Sheriffs that the incident began about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of W. First Street, where Roorda allegedly “punched” the victim “on the left side of her face with his right hand, which was a closed fist at the time of this assault,” according to court records.
A witness observed the alleged Sunday assault, which “caused discomfort and an injury” to the victim’s face, according to court records.
A further assault occurred at the same place Monday about 1 p.m., when Roorda allegedly “threatened to kill” the victim “while putting his hands around her throat,” according to court records.
Roorda was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $2,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 30 in Dallas County District Court.
Roorda was convicted of assault in 1999 in Dallas County District Court.
