Dallas County royalty was bestowed on two worthy women Wednesday evening when the Dallas County Fair Queen and Fair Princess received their titles and regalia.
Emily Harney of Granger was crowned Fair Queen and Katelyn Wilderdyke was named Fair Princess in ceremonies at the county fairgrounds in Adel. Runners-up Alexa Sandon of Clive and Alexa Nielsen of Dexter were in no way lacking in talents and accomplishments and shared in the general esteem of the standing-room-only crowd.
Kelsey Staley, 2014 Dallas County Fair Queen, spoke before the 2015 contestants were announced and described her experiences during her one-year reign.
In spite of the absence of contestants from county residents living north of Iowa Highway 44 in this year’s Dallas County Fair Queen Contest, all of Dallas County’s females have unique gifts and estimable qualities and deserve our unqualified respect.
