
WOODWARD — The Woodward-Granger boys improved to 9-11 overall and 7-11 in West Central Conference play with a 58-35 win over visiting AC/GC Tuesday.
W-G senior Bodie Harrison jolted the Chargers (3-18, 3-15) with an electrifying 6-of-8 effort behind the 3-point line to lead all scorers with 20 points. Harrison, Marcus McConahay, Cameron Hoyt, Brady Aunspach, Spencer Hanson and Seth Epley were honored as part of Senior Night festivities.
The hosts wasted little time in assuming control of the contest by bolting to an 11-2 lead after one frame, with the Hawks holding a 28-17 advantage at the break. A 16-5 current running through the third period created a 44-22 lead as the home team went on to ground their guests by 23 points. W-G completed a season sweep with the win, having already posted a 60-45 victory at AC/GC Jan. 6.
W-G finished 9-20 as a team beyond the 19 foot, nine-inch arc, with AC/GC 5-of-23 from distance. The Hawks converted 3-of-4 free throws and the visitors 6-of-11.

McConahay had 13 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and five assists for W-G, with Bryce Achenbach adding six points, eight assists and four steals. Hoyt had five points, Aunspach four and Hanson four with four caroms and three thefts. Reese Jamison provided three points, Brendan Bird two and Epley one.
Colton Sargent led AC/GC with 16 points, with Caden Wardyn tallying 12 points.
W-G will open Class 2A Substate 7 play with a visit to Interstate-35 Monday. The game will start shortly after the conclusion of the 6:30 p.m. game featuring Clarke against Woodward Academy. The W-G/I-35 victor will travel to Van Meter Thursday, where they will face Central Decatur in a 6:30 p.m. game.
