Hawk hardballers handcuffed by host Bulldogs

OGDEN — Junior Carter Church struck out 13 in six innings of work and Jacob Craven fanned two in an inning of relief as Ogden posted a 1-0 win over Woodward-Granger in WCAC baseball Tuesday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

Cole Theisen was the tough-luck loser for the Hawks. The senior struck out six while walking two and allowing just four hits in six innings on the bump.

Ogden manufactured a run in the bottom of the fourth with a walk, a hit and a RBI. Chruch and Craven made the tally stand up, with Church yielding four hits and Craven one.

Joe Rhodes swatted two doubles and a single for W-G, with Bryce Achenbach and Matt Buch adding base hits. Reese Jamison and Hunter Pifer each drew walks.

Church had a RBI-hit, with Noah Snedden and Charlie Lake adding singles while Kayden Kruise doubled. Jade Thompson walked and scored for the Bulldogs.

W-G visits Webster City tonight before hosting AC/GC for their home opener Thursday. Both dates are junior varsity/varsity sets, with the JV starting at 5:30 p.m.
