PANORA — The Woodward-Granger grapplers raised their dual team record to 4-0 with a 72-12 whipping of Clarinda Academy and a 45-30 win over host Panorama Thursday.
The Hawks won four by forfeit four times against the Eagles, with the eight other W-G wins all by pinfall.
Colt Palmer won by fall in 1 minute, 48 seconds at 120 pounds and Ryley Sazton in 1:11 at 126 with Cole Carman recording a pin at 132 in 2:45. Other pinfall victories came from Jorand Pierce (145, 3:27); Race Brant (152, 1:26), Austin Scharlau (160, :46), Aaron Sperling (170, :55) and Tanner Vermaas (182, :23).
W-G matmen winning on forfeits were Thomas Govig (195), Cole Moran (285), Hunter Pierce (106) and Ty Turner (113).
Pierce (106) and Griffen Gibbons (182) received forfeits from Panorama, with the later pushing W-G into a 39-32 lead with one match left, with Vermaas winning by pin in 3:27 to set the final score.
Tae Calderon won by fall in 35 seconds at 113 and Turner in 5:39 at 120, with Saxton needing just 58 ticks to pin his foe at 132. Brant stuck his opponent in 1:02 at 152, with Carman claiming a 7-3 decision at 138 to account for the remainder of the W-G scoring.
W-G will host the Field Invitational tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. The invite will be the last home event for the Hawk matmen this season, as all other scheduled action, including the sectional and district meets, are on the road.
