WEBSTER CITY — A lineup that featured the long-awaited return of two wrestlers may well have been the highlight Saturday for the Woodward-Granger grapplers.

Heavyweight Tyler Lawrenson was 3-1 with two pins and a forfeit in his first action of the season, with Jayden Dorenkamp back to competition at 145 pounds, where, unfortunately, he was unable to find a victory in four matches.

W-G defeated Roland-Story, 54-27, and Cedar Rapids Xavier, 48-36, while falling to both Forest City (56-21) and Webster City (42-33).

Cody Fisher (220 pounds) and Cale Pritchett (170) were the lone Hawks to post four wins. Fisher won three times by pin and once by forfeit, with Pritchett scoring three pins and claiming a 5-2 decision.

Matthew White (132) was 3-1 with two pins and a 5-1 decision, with Dustin Harney (152) 3-1 with a pin, an 8-4 decision, and a forfeit while Jon McKeever (160) was 3-1 with a pin, a 12-5 decision and a forfeit.

Kade Polich (182) was 2-2 with a pin and a forfeit, as was 120-pounder Corbyn Atwell while Devan Brown recorded a pin to finish 1-3 at 195.

Joel Harney was 1-3 with a win by fall at 113, with a forfeit allowing Jayden Flugge-Smith to finish 1-3 at 138. Peyton Nixon wrestled once at 106, receiving a forfeit, with Tjaden Smeltzer unable to find a win in four bouts at 126.

W-G hosts Greene County, Martensdale-St. Marys and Nodaway Valley for Senior Night Tuesday before visiting PCM Thursday and the Winterset Invite Saturday.
