Helen Ann Harrison (Nelson), 85, of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and formerly of Bouton was born April 1, 1940, in Dexter Iowa, the third of six children to Ransome and Helen Nelson of rural Bouton, Iowa.

Helen Ann passed peacefully on Sept 7, 2025, in Atlanta.

Helen Ann was an Iowa child of the 1950s. She drove a tractor, detasseled corn and was one of the initial group of carhops at the brand new A&W in Perry.

Attending Perry High School with the class of 1958, her outgoing and friendly personality made her life-long friends, and she participated in many activities, including co-editing her senior yearbook and being on the staff of the Telital school newspaper. As a top student in both academics and leadership, she was inducted into the National Honor Society.

No doubt impressed by his ’57 Chevy two-door hardtop, Helen Ann married Larry Harrison, class of 1954. This union produced two boys, first Michael and then Kurt.

Larry’s job took them first to Minnesota and then Wisconsin before their ending up in the greater Atlanta area in Georgia.

Helen Ann enjoyed trips won by Larry from his firm due to his exceptional salesmanship and especially treasured a trip to Scandinavia in 1979 with several family members, all expenses paid for by her father.

Helen Ann was preceded in death by her son, Michael; and husband, Larry.

She is survived by her son, Kurt; siblings, Karen (Larry) Taylor, John Nelson, Linda Nelson and William Nelson; sister-in-law, Donna (Wendell) Stream; and many nieces and nephews.
