Gusty winds with rapidly falling temperatures are expected in the Perry area Friday afternoon as a cold front moves into southern portions of the state, according to the National Weather Service office in Johnston.
Sustained northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, with a few gusts over 40 mph, are forecast. The winds are combined with the possibility of scattered snow showers and might bring short intervals of reduced visibility, the NWS said.
In addition to gusty winds, rapidly falling temperatures might cause the quick freezing of pavement still wet from Thursday night’s rains.
Icy and slick spots could develop, particularly on untreated roadways and overpasses. Travelers should be prepared for changing driving conditions and cross winds.
