
A homeless Hampton man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with an October incident in which he allegedly broke into an Adel woman’s apartment and raped her.
Corey Ryan Casady, 36, homeless and formerly of 321 Fifth St. S.W., Hampton, Iowa, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse, first-degree burglary and third-offense trespassing.
According to court records, test results received April 18 from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation laboratory indicated that Casady’s DNA matched the DNA of the suspect in a sexual assault investigation that began Oct. 2, 2022.
A warrant for Casady’s arrest was ordered April 20 in Dallas County District Court and served April 26.
According to the victim of the assault, Casady allegedly “forced his way into the residence” of the victim at 600 S. 12th St. in Adel on Oct. 1, 2022, and “sexually assaulted her on her bed,” according to court records.
Casady is held in the Dallas County on a $50,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 8 in Dallas County District Court.
Several days after the October 2022 incident, Corey was arrested in Clive on a charge of assault on persons in certain occupations. He was convicted in December in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in December 2021 in Story County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness in August 2021 in Story County District Court. He was convicted of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon in 2021 in Franklin County District Court. He was convicted of assault in 2010 in Story County District Court. He was convicted of animal abuse in 2010 in Story County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing bodily injury in 2006 in Hardin County District Court. He was convicted of assault on peace officers and others in 2006 in Hardin County District Court.
