House fire north of Perry quickly controlled Thursday

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded when a house caught fire in rural Boone County Thursday morning.

The occupants of the residence escaped unharmed, but a firefighter was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by the Boone County EMS.

The blaze was reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. at 475 320th St. in Boone County at the intersection of Eagle Avenue. The 87-year-old house is owned by Kent and Heather Friedrichsen, according to Boone County records.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this hour.

Flames were visible when firefighters arrived, according to radio traffic. The fire was quickly controlled, and exhaust fans were deployed to clear the residence of smoke.

The volunteer fire departments from Bouton, Ogden and Rippey were dispatched for mutual aid. The Boone County Sheriff’s office and The Iowa Department of Transportation Vehicle Enforcement Division also responded.
