In the latest signs of spring growth in Perry’s residential housing market, five new houses are currently under construction within the city limits.
Three units are going up along Sunflower Street. The foundation has been laid at 2109 Sunflower St., a property owned by Andy N. Chau and Thoa Kim Nguyen, according to Dallas County records. The spec house at 2112 is owned by Cornerstone Homes, and the home at 2113 is owned by My Hoang Dang and Thuy Ngoc.
The new structure at the northwest corner of 16th and Park streets was sold Feb. 16 by Ruben and Rosa Gonzalez of Perry to Waukee-based Genesis Homes Inc., according to county records.
The fifth of the new units is at 2604 Hiawatha St., another spec house. Jefferson-based Tri-County Cash Lumber Mart Inc. is the deed holder.
The housing starts are evidence the property tax abatement plan approved by the Perry City Council in September 2016 under the city’s urban revitalization plan is having the desired effect. The abatement plan also covers home renovations.
