Hy-Vee Inc. has announced a partnership with the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to distribute 75,000 free face masks to the general public beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 26 at all the company’s grocery stores and drugstores in Iowa.
The masks will be available on a first come-first serve basis to those who would like one in order to help prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus.
Each Iowa Hy-Vee store will have about 500 masks to hand out, the company said. The free masks are provided by the IDPH.
Hy-Vee Inc. made face masks mandatory for all employees April 27 in order “to help protect both our employees and customers.” The company employs about 85,000 employees in 245 stores across eight Midwestern states.
