Amber Marie Herzmann, of Erie, Illinois, was arrested Tuesday on charges of 13 counts of prohibited act-schedule 1, 2 or 3 controlled substance and 13 counts of tampering with records.

An Illinois woman was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with incidents in 2024 in which she allegedly faked hospital records and stole fentanyl intended for patients in pain.

Amber Marie Herzmann, of 10780 Moline Road, Erie, Illinois, was charged with 13 counts of prohibited act-schedule 1, 2 or 3 controlled substance and 13 counts of tampering with records.

According to court records, Herzmann “worked as a nurse on the maternity floor at Methodist West Hospital in” 2024 and created a “false entry” in the records of 13 patients in order “to conceal the fact the she was diverting the fentanyl instead of administering it.”

Instead of administering the pain killer, “Hermann kept the fentanyl for herself,” according to court records.

Herzmann is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
