Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy (IOWA) hosted a ribbon cutting on July 12 to commemorate its new Children’s Crisis Stabilization Center and Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at 410 12th St. in Perry.

Joining the celebrations were local law enforcement agencies, mental health and healthcare providers, Heart of Iowa and other MHDS regions and community members, who cut the ribbon, met the staff and toured the newly renovated building. The offices formerly housed the Southwest Iowa Mental Health Center.

“This a big day for mental health in Iowa,” said IOWA CEO Melinda Dennis. “Our team has worked tirelessly to bring much needed mental health support and resources to all Iowans. Opening this facility is monumental not just for our agency but for our community and all Iowa residents. Providing mental health resources and services for Iowans seeking support is extremely needed, and we are proud to be a steppingstone in everyone’s journey.”

Dennis told visitors the new Children’s Crisis Stabilization Center is expected to begin providing mental health services for children by late summer, with the Adult Crisis Center starting operations in the fall.

The Outpatient Mental Health Clinic will begin offering services later this summer with limited hours, she said.

Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy is also renovating a third Crisis Stabilization Center in Knoxville, Iowa, with an anticipated completion this fall.
