An irresistible force met an immovable object Wednesday afternoon in Greene County south of Paton.
Clint Flack, 25, of Jefferson was driving an Iowa DOT snow plow on U Avenue near 150th Street about 1:15 p.m. when the blade of the plow caught the Union Pacific railroad tracks, causing the blade to break off and forcing the truck into the east ditch.
The force of the blade bent the railroad track and led to the temporary closure of that section of the UP line aong Iowa Highway 144.
No injuries were reported.
The estimated damage to the truck was $5,000, and the estimated damage to the railroad was about $2,000.
The Greene County Sheriff’s office responded to the incident.
