On April 6, 2025, Jack Lee Frantum, 82, of Perry joined his daughter, Dawn Lynn (Frantum) Harl, in heaven. He passed away at Perry Lutheran Homes, where he was a resident since March 2016.

Jack was an only child, born Jan. 19, 1943, in Perry, Iowa, to John Kenneth (Jack) Frantum and Helen Louise (Robbins) Frantum.

He attended school in Perry and graduated from Perry High School.

jack met his wife, Edith, in 1973, and they were married on May 1, 1977.

Jack was a member of the Iowa National Guard detachment in Perry.

He loved stock car racing, camping and his grandchildren.

Jack was a longtime Perry resident and took over his father’s business, Jack Frantum Roofing and Insulation. After closing the business, he went to work for Gold Meadow and Frito-Lay. The grandkids loved this, as he always had single-serve ice cream cups in the freezer.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Dawn, who passed away on Dec. 6, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; three children from a previous marriage, Kevin (Kimberly) Frantum of Hawley, Texas, Kellee (Lawrence) Jindra of Omaha, Nebraska, and Genifer (Ethan) Herb of Omaha; two step-sons, Preston Coston and Steven Coston; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Kerri (Derrick), Blake, Andrew (Stephanie), Brianna (Jonathan), Lauren (Derek), Dean, Cole, Riley, Jaimee (Brad), DeaAnna and Makayla; two step-grandchildren, Kiara Coston and Kody Coston; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 4 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-Perry Chapel at 1721 Park St. in Perry. A reception will follow the service. Burial will take place on Monday, May 5 (immediate family only) at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.
