GRIMES, IA — The DC-G volleyball team has started the season 4-4 under new head coach Meg Jackson, who had served as an assistant for the Fillies from 2018-2021.

DC-G owns wins over SE Polk, Carlisle, Mt. Pleasant, and Iowa Valley, with losses coming to Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Dowling Catholic and Clear Creek-Amana.

The Fillies have had plenty of success during the past four years. The team is a combined 100-39 and 28-9 in Little Hawkeye play. DC-G reached the state semifinals in 2018, the regional finals in 2019 and the state quarterfinals in 2020 before falling in regional play last season.

Jackson has a long resume of success, having built Woodward-Granger into a steady, powerful force in Class 2A over her 16-year run as head coach of the Hawks.

She was 314-156 (.668) during that span and led the team to the 2011 state tourney. In nine years in the West Central under Jackson W-G was a impressive 69-6 (.92). Her last four seasons with the Hawks saw the team post a 116-40 mark, and from 2013-2017 W-G did not lose a single match to a 1A school.

DC-G resumes play Tuesday with a trip to Grinnell, with a journey to Indianola scheduled for Sept. 6. The next home date for the Fillies will be a Sept. 13 visit from Pella Christian.
