James Hougham, 88, of Perry passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at the Pearl Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Perry, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Richland Township Cemetery near Bagley.

James Delmar Hougham was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Perry, Iowa, to Arthur Ernest and Lula E. (Springer) Hougham.

He grew up in Perry and attended Perry High School.

He was united in marriage to Anna Mae Godfrey in Perry March 1, 1949.

He worked as a farm hand, on the interurban railway and Milwaukee Railroad and at Stanley Salvage in Herndon.

He enjoyed collecting Avon bottles and railroad memorabilia, visiting with his coffee club friends and watching TV.

In death he rejoins his parents, Arthur and Lula Hougham; brothers, George and Clarence Hougham; sisters, Fern Rittgers and Betty Devilbiss; and a grandson, Adam Anderson.

Left to cherish James’s memory are his wife, Anna Mae Hougham; daughters, Vickey Anderson of Perry and Susan Mickelson of Perry; grandchildren, Tonya and Tracey Anderson; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Chloe Anderson and Brandon and John Stucker; brothers, Dale (Beverly) Roberts and Roy (Ginger) Roberts, both from Missouri, and his cat, Charlie.
