Perry's Molly Lutmer fires away for one of her six 3-pointers against Bondurant-Farrar last season. Jo Diw (2) and Grace Stewart (10) are also shown for the Jayettes.

The Perry girls basketball team is asking for your support.

The Jayettes are currently holding a “Free Throw Fundraiser” to help defray the costs of new equipment and uniform needs.

How the program works is simple: Jayette cagers will each be taking 100 free throws, and are accepting pledges for each made freebie. Supporters also have the option of making a simple donation of a said amount.

New head coach Chris Morrow noted he had nearly 30 girls show up for the first official team meeting recently, and that, if those numbers hold, the Jayettes would be able to play both a freshman and junior varsity schedule, something low participation has prevented in recent seasons.

Morrow is also planning a “Midnight Madness” style open practice to help kick off the season sometime in early November. More details will be released later.

Anyone wishing to help support the Jayettes can make a pledge by contacting any current player or the Perry High School office. Standard donations can be dropped off or mailed to “Perry Girls Basketball Fundraiser” c/o Perry High School, 1200 18th Street, Perry, IA 50220. The fundraiser will continue for the next several weeks.
