One of the two Perry girls swimming records that was reset Thursday will likely change several times in the next few seasons. The other had stood since 2000.

Perry hosted Fort Dodge and Algona at the MCB Pool, with each team scored independently against each other. Fort Dodge topped Perry, 86-70, and Algona, 113-47, with Perry a 78-73 winner over Algona.

Sophomore Quin Mahler-Moreno is likely to continually reset her school mark in the 200 freestyle as her promising career progresses. He 1 minute, 59.46 second clocking was .78 ticks faster than her personal best. Jenna Nelson was third to Algona in the race in 2:22.62.

Mahler-Moreno paired with juniors Sophia McDevitt, Lilly Riley and Zoe Hibbert to win the 200 free relay in 1:47.91, taking down the 1:48.33 posted by the foursome of Rasmussen, Sholley, Kelley and Dowd in 2000.

The 200 medley relay of Maddie McDevitt, Emily Dowd, Riley and Hailey Peterson — in her first action of the season — third to Fort Dodge and second to Algona in 2:26.63.

Sophia McDevitt was 2/1 (FtD/Alg) in the 200 IM in 2:26.48, with Hibbert 3/2 in 2:35.71 while Dowd was 3/3 in the 50 free in 29.86.

Hibbert was 1/1, in 59.29, and Nelson 3/3, in 1:05.13, in the 100 free, with Sophia McDevitt 1/1 in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.9 while Mahler-Moreno was 1/1 in the 500 free in 5:26.68.

Riley was 1/1 in the 100 backstroke (1:15.88) and Dowd 3/3 in the 100 breaststroke (1:37.89), with Hibbert, Riley, Mahler-Moreno and Sophia McDevitt 1/1 in the 400 free relay in 4:03.82.

Peterson also competed in the junior varsity 50 free, touching in 34.67.

Her time, the 50 free from Dowd and 100 backstroke for Riley, along with the 100 free swims from Hibbert and Nelson, were all personal-best efforts.

Perry joins Oskaloosa in visiting Newton Tuesday, then has a break until an Oct. 4 home date against Grinnell.
