The Perry girls swim team hosted Algona Thursday at the McCreary Community Building pool and successfully defended their home waters by posting an 80-67 victory.
Freshman Quin Mahler-Moreno wasted little time in making an impact by taking down a 22-year old school record in her first individual event. She won the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 15.42 seconds, erasing the 1999 standard set by Christina Dowd.
Mahler-Moreno joined Sophia McDevitt, Lilley Riley and Zoe Hibbert in winning the 200 medley relay in 2:05.15, with the same quartet claiming the 400 free relay in 4:08.36 while Emily Dowd, Hailey Peterson, Jenna Nelson and Hibbert won the 200 free relay in 2:11.53.
Nelson was first (2:19.94) and Dowd second (2:34.34) in the 200 free, with both times new personal-best efforts. Nelson was second in a PB time of 29.87 in the 50 free, with Peterson fourth in 40.81.
Personal-bests also went to McDevitt and Dowd in the 100 backstroke, with the former first, in 1:07.29, and the latter fourth, in 1:24.69.
McDevitt won the 100 butterfly in 1:05.78 and Mahler-Moreno the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.33, with Hibbert winning the 100 free in a PB of 1:01.56 while Peterson touched fourth in 1:36.66.
The Jayettes also received first-place points in the 500 free, with freshman Lilley Riley winning her first varsity event by touching the wall in 6:24.52.
