A Jefferson couple was arrested early Monday after allegedly assaulting one another.

Jess Dean Hermansen, 32, of 606 N. Cedar St., Jefferson, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

Ivy Christiana Heithoff, 33, of 606 N. Cedar St., Jefferson, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began about 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of N. Cedar Street, where an officer of the Jefferson Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, a verbal dispute began after Hermansen “came home from playing darts at midnight” and escalated.

Heithoff told the officers that Hermansen allegedly “put her into a headlock” while “she pushed and shoved him,” according to court records. She said that Hermansen “bit” her “back in two places, her left arm right next to her elbow.”

Hermansen told the officers that Heithoff “pushed him off the bed into the corner, between the bed and the wall of the residence, and held him down,” according to court records. He said that he “bit” Heithoff in “trying to get her off of him.”

The officers concluded that Hermansen and Heithoff “were both main aggressors of the situation at one time during the altercation,” according to court records.

Heithoff was held in the Greene County Jail prior to her release on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a hearing Jan. 19 in Greene County District Court.

Hermansen was held in the Greene County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a hearing Jan. 5 in Greene County District Court.

Hermansen was convicted of assault in 2013 in Greene County District Court.
