  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 1200 block of Rushridge Road.
  • A local retail store requested an officer at 303 N. Elm St. for a shoplifting event. The officer arrived and made contact with an 11-year-old male who stole batteries from the business. The officer brought the juvenile to the Law Enforcement Center to be picked up by an adult. The officer will send a juvenile charge of fifth-degree theft to the Juvenile Court.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 500 block of S. Olive Street.
  • An officer investigated a one-vehicle property-damage accident in the 100 block of Ram Drive. A 2005 Pontiac Bonneville owned by Randall McColley and operated by Kaitlyn McColley of Rippey left the roadway and struck a fence owned by the city of Jefferson. McColley said the vehicle ahead of her slammed on the brakes, causing her to leave the roadway. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $500, and damage to the fence was estimated at $200. McColley was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
  • Carol Delp reported a stray cat in the area of 1409 N. Elm St. An officer responded but did not locate the animal.
  • Bomgaars turned over possible narcotics located by an employee while cleaning the restrooms at 205 W. McKinley St. The small baggy contained a white, powdery residue. An officer destroyed the item.
  • Jesse Summerfield came to the Law Enforcement Center and said he was homeless and needed somewhere to stay. An officer attempted to find assistance for Summerfield through the local clergy.
  • Jessica Wolf spoke to an officer about ordinances pertaining to a cat scratching someone in Jefferson. She did not give specifics of any event.
  • Jeanise Pedersen requested an officer remove her adult son from her residence at 903 W. Adams St. The son left on his own after the officer arrived.
  • Melinda Bassett reported being harassed by text message from a neighbor at 1000 W. Adams St. The officer spoke to the other party in order to end the issue.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
