- The Fort Dodge Police Department requested an officer to speak with a male at 907 S. Elm St. after the Joe Biden campaign reported receiving threats from the male. The male said he was tired of the campaign phone calls and had no intention on carrying out any threats. The information was sent back to the Secret Service.
- An officer spoke to a person about a car parked in the 600 block of W. State St. beyond the allowed 48 hours. The vehicle is to be removed by the owner Oct. 31 or face towing.
- Officers were requested at 406 E. Harrison St. for a reported domestic abuse assault. The officers’ investigation led to the arrest of Jason William Sheldahl, 48, of Jefferson for first-offense domestic abuse assault.
- A male spoke with an officer about concerns of narcotics use by a family member and other juveniles.
- Officers assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a structure fire at 301 W. Lincoln Way. A small fire was located in a second-story bathroom, possibly caused by a space heater. Damage was confined to the bathroom and was estimated at $10,000. During the event, firefighters advised officers of a smoking device in plain sight in the bathroom. After receiving a consent search from the occupants, an officer located and removed the smoking device along with suspected marijuana, marijuana wax and unlabeled prescription drugs from the residence. Charges are pending completion of lab testing.
- A traffic stop near 220th Street and M Avenue resulted in Samuel Naberhaus of Scranton being issued a citation for excessive speed.
- An officer responded to 400 N. Elm St. after an alarm activation from the business. An employee advised he accidentally tripped the system and all was fine.
- Arrest warrants were requested for Kayden Allen Nelson, 18, of Jefferson after an officer received lab results on seized items. The officer seized the items Oct. 8, 2019, from an apartment at 102 S. Grimmell Road after a family member said they located them in Nelson’s belongings. It was also reported to the officer that Nelson had taken the family member’s vehicle without permission. Warrants were requested for first-offense possession of a controlled substance and operation without owner’s consent.
