Dakota Neil Bishop, 29, of Jefferson was arrested Thursday on a charge of second or subsequent offense sex offender registration violation.

A Jefferson man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Thursday for failing to list his whereabouts on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.

Dakota Neil Bishop, 29, of 502 N. Vine St., Jefferson, was charged with second or subsequent offense sex offender registration violation.

According to court records, Bishop was released in March from the Polk County Jail and listed an address on Grove Street in Perry as his place of residence on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. In April the Dallas County Sheriff’s office learned from the owner of the Grove Street property that Bishop “does not currently live there, nor has he lived there in several years.”

A warrant for Bishop’s arrest for sex offender registration violation was ordered April 8 in Dallas County District Court and served Sept. 1. Bishop is held in the Dallas County Jail without bond. He is scheduled for a hearing Sept. 2 in Dallas County District Court.

Bishop was convicted of lascivious acts with a child-solicitation in 2012 in Dallas County District Court. He was convicted of probation violation in 2013 and 2015 in Dallas County District Court. He was arrested in April 2022 in Johnston and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of indecent contact with a child and three counts of indecent exposure. The case is pending in Polk County District Court.
