Jerry Barrett, 83, of Luther passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, at his home in Luther, Iowa.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 6 from 12-2 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care in Perry, with burial to follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.
Jerry Lee Barrett was born Jan. 8, 1939, in Luther, Iowa, to John Orlyn and Helen Elizabeth (Payne) Barrett.
He graduated from the Luther Consolidated School.
Jerry was united in marriage to Sandy Sue Wenzel at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Perry on Aug. 19, 1988.
He worked at the Ledges State Park as a custodian and the Firestone Rubber Co. in Des Moines.
While growing up, Jerry loved to ride his bike, motor bike and helping people. Later he enjoyed working on cars, fishing and buying and selling various things, such as antiques and lawn mowers.
In death he rejoins his parents, John and Helen Barrett; a daughter, Terry; son, Donnie; grandson, Jerad Hale; and brothers, Dean and Larry.
Left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his wife, Sandy Barrett; children, Janene Hale, Lori (Kenny) Anderson and Lisa Bedford; grandchildren, Jessie Hale; great-grandchildren, Taylor Hernandez, Kymberli, Maleigha, Madox, Kaiden, MaKaylynn, Braxton and Kaylee; great-great-granddaughter, Amilia Hernandez; and siblings, Fern Shell and John Barrett.
