A Johnston man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Tuesday in connection with an incident last week in which he allegedly assaulted a West Des Moines man outside a Waukee nail salon.
Chinedu Samuel Nwagbo, 18, of 6298 N.W. 54th Court, Johnston, was charged with assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
The incident began about 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the 1000 block of E. Hickman Road in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of a fight.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers that he was “attacked by” Nwagbo, who allegedly “pushed him up against a vehicle” and “struck him in the face,” according to court records.
A witness provided a video recording of the incident, which allegedly showed the victim “being punched” by Nwagbo, according to court records.
A warrant for Nwagbo’s arrest was ordered Sept. 25 in Dallas County District Court and served Tuesday. Nwagbo is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 11 in Dallas County District Court.
