Kenneth John Walker, 85, known as John to family and friends, of Worcester, Vt., died unexpectedly as a result of an auto accident Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1932, the youngest of four siblings, to E. Ralph and Alice (Chase) Walker.

He attended schools in Chelsea, Vt.

John served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1954.

In 1956 he married Sylvia Durkee.

He worked primarily at a heavy equipment mechanic for State Equipment in Barre, Vt., and later for LB Smith’s in Barre. He helped maintain the construction equipment used to build both U.S. Interstate 89 and later U.S. Interstate 91. He later worked for McCoullough Sand and Gravel in Middlesex.

John was an avid member of the NRA and a supporter of our Second Amendment rights.

He enjoyed reading and watching Alfred Hitchcock books and movies. He was also a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, of Worcester; son, Ralph Walker, and his wife, Sharon, of Perry; son, Tom Walker, and his wife, Tammi, of Bristol, Vt.; son, Andrew Walker, of Brimley, Mich.; daughter, Wendy Walker, of Barre; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at a later date.
